Thank you to all my Kickstarter backers and friends for your support for my CD, "Song For Sandy."  Most of you have received your CD and other rewards.  I am thrilled about how the CD sounds and the packaging looks.  Sandy's Cover Art work colors are 99% true.  Kudos to Disc Makers for their design and total commitment to the project.

If you'd like a CD, email me and I'll send one out to you.  The cost for the CD, or the poster of Sandy's art (11"X17"), including the postage, is $15.  (Postage is about $2.50 for either the CD or Poster.)

P. S.  If you haven't seen the film, "Whiplash," check it out.  It's an example of how not to coach musicians.  Also, the documentary of Clark Terry and his blind student, is a must-see entitled, "Keep On, Keeping On."
P. S. S.  We were saddened by the passing of Clark Terry a few months ago.  He will be sorely missed not only by the listening public, but by his colleagues and students.

Upcoming Gigs

The Shimon Ben-shir Group will celebrate the release of my new CD, "Song for Sandy" along with Shimon's 4th CD, "IV" at the Roslindale Congregational Church on Friday, May 1st, at 7:30 PM.  The first set will be devoted to new tunes from "IV". The second set will feature tunes from my CD as well as several new ones.  The musicians, all faculty at the John Payne Music Center will be:

The Sharp Nines, adult jazz ensemble will perform at Ryles Jazz Club on Sunday, May 31st along with several other ensembles from the John Payne Music Center.  The first band goes on at 3pm.  The Sharp Nines are likely to perform around 6pm.

  Recent Gigs

Sharp Nines - My adult jazz ensemble played two sets for "Jazz in the Square" at the Roslindale. on December 5th.  We played a medley of tunes from the sound track of the film, "Nebraska" which was a big hit.  We also celebrated the life of Horace Silver and the life of our late trumpet player, Elaine Courier, who was a fan of Silver's music.

I played on alto Horace Silver's "Peace" at my mom's "Celebration of Life'" service on May 31st at the Brewster Library, Cape Cod with JPMC colleague, Diana Fischer on piano.  My mom passed on April 5th at the age of 102.

ALERT:  THE ACTON JAZZ CAFE HAS CLOSED.  However, Gwenn has opened a new venue called "ACT III" in Littleton, MA on 529 King St. in early autumn.  She is currently negotiating for an entertainment license.  So, "ACT III" is only a restaurant.  However, they play CD's of previous performers.
